Police have named a 28-year-old man who died following an incident in Invercargill on Saturday evening.
He was Andrew Michael Maugham, of Invercargill.
Police have confirmed in a statement they were called to an altercation at a Dee St property about 7.15pm on Saturday.
Mr Maugham was taken by ambulance
to Southland Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, a St John Ambulance spokesman said.
The spokesman could not confirm the nature of the injuries.
