A man who died at the scene of a car fire on Wednesday has been named as Eric James Carter, 65, from Christchurch.
The car caught fire near Waddington, 12km north west of Darfield, and Mr Carter was found by nearby suffering from smoke inhalation and burns.
He collapsed and died at the scene.
