KEY POINTS:
A brazen robber who police say has hit three Post Banks in Auckland in the last fortnight has been identified as a Maori who speaks with a Canadian accent.
Police say he is Steven Kurt Peri, 28, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Detective Sergeant Geoff Baber from the Avondale CIB said police believe Peri had got away with thousands of dollars from Post Shops in the Auckland suburbs of Royal Heights, Massey, Pt Chevalier and Khyber Pass since August 13.
He said Peri handed notes demanding money to tellers and told them he had a gun he was prepared to use.
Peri was considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Peri is of thin to medium build, about 186cm tall. He has short, dark hair and is generally clean shaven but sometimes has a goatee. He wears prescription glasses.
Peri was reported to have spoken to police today and told them he was not ready to hand himself in.
Mr Baber said anyone with information should contact him at the Avondale CIB on 09 820 5781 or 027 486 0947.
