Police name man killed in Hastings crash

Police have named a man whose car failed to take a moderate bend and crashed into a power pole and trees north of Hastings early today.

He was James Kirk Hutton, 20, of Hastings.

Police believed that alcohol was a factor in the crash, at the intersection of Pakowhai and Farndon Roads around 3.30am.

The deceased was the sole occupant and no other vehicles were believed to have been involved.
