Police have named a 22-year-old man killed when his car crashed into a tree in Palmerston North last night.
He was Jesse Whakarau, of Palmerston North.
The crash happened on Kaimanawa Street in suburban Kelvin Grove about 8.15pm.
The 22-year-old front seat passenger suffered minor injuries but discharged himself from Palmerston North Hospital last night.
An investigation into the cause had begun, police spokeswoman Kim Perks said.
