KEY POINTS:
Taranaki police have released the name of the farmer who was killed yesterday after coming into contact with high voltage power lines.
He was 43-year-old Stephen Bernard Potroz.
The accident happened on a farm at Motukawa Rd, Tarata, north of Stratford, apparently after an electric fence line he was working on came into contact with the overhead wires.
The Taranaki Daily News reported that a second man who knew the deceased also got a powerful electric shock as a doctor tended to the dead man.
He was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital but his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
The Department of Labour is investigating the incident.
