Police name man killed at party

Police have named a man who died at a party in Hawkes's Bay at the weekend.

A homicide investigation was launched after Dean Peni, 39, died at a Flaxmere address early on Saturday morning.

Detective Sergeant Mike Foster of Hastings said a 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene and would appear in Hastings District Court this afternoon charged with assault.

Mr Foster said police had nearly completed interviews with those who were at the party, but that they would have to wait for post mortem results to see whether further charges would be laid.
