Police name man found near burning car

The man whose body was found near his burning car on a northern Hawke's Bay beach yesterday was Lindsay Mark Antony Bell, 45, of Cambridge.

His body was discovered by police and the fire service around 10.30am at Mahanga Beach on the Mahia Peninsula. The area was inaccessible during high tide.

Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious but did not reveal the cause of death.

The death has been referred to the coroner.
