Police name man found dead off Wellington

Police have identified and named the man whose body was found in the sea off Wellington's south coast on Thursday morning.

He was James Andrew McVey, 34, of Wellington, who was found floating in the surf at Houghton Bay about 10.30am.

Police yesterday released a photo of a silver and orange Giant brand mountain bike found near the body and asked to hear from anyone with information.

Mr McVey's death was not believed to be suspicious, police said.
