Taumarunui police have named a man found dead at a house in the central North Island town on Wednesday.
Moses Moi Akarana, 45, was "fairly transient" but had been staying in Auckland and Taumarunui in recent weeks, police said.
Emergency services were called to a Ngatai Street house about 4.15pm on Wednesday, where they found Mr Akarana's body, Detective Senior Sergeant Keith Borrell said.
"There were a small number of occupants in the house and it was one of those occupants that had called for an ambulance," Mr Borrell said.
"It is too early to say whether or not the death is suspicious. As a precaution we are carrying out a scene examination."
A post mortem would be carried out later today.
