KEY POINTS:
Police have released the name of the Dutch tourist who was killed in a microlight crash in Abel Tasman National Park on Monday.
He was Steven Eckhart, aged 36.
Mr Eckhart was a passenger who died alongside pilot Alex Charles, 44, of Nelson.
Mr Charles was an experienced pilot, having spent more than seven years flying microlights and more than 20 years hang-gliding.
The pair were on a commercial scenic flight over Takaka Hill when their two-seater Airborne XT-912 came down.
As air crash investigators start to piece together what went wrong with the flight, one theory being explored is that the plane was caught in a "down draught".
Nelson police Inspector Hugh Flower said Civil Aviation Authority investigators visited the scene yesterday and would return again today.
