Police name drowning victim

Police have named the 19-year-old man who drowned while attempting to float down a segment of the Rangitikei river yesterday.

Steven Tuanau, from Bulls, died after apparently getting caught on a submerged log about five metres from shore.

Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The death has been referred to the Coroner.
