Police have named a man killed when a crane on the back of a truck swung out and collided with his utility vehicle on the Invercargill-Bluff highway yesterday morning.
He was Peter Malcolm Graham, 43.
Police said Mr Graham died instantly in the crash, 7km south of Invercargill, about 9.30am.
Senior Sergeant Dave Raynes, of Invercargill police, said the crane had been on the back of a north-bound truck transporter carrying another truck when it had apparently swung out and collided with the ute travelling south.
Police were investigating how this had happened, he said.
Mr Graham's vehicle rolled for some distance after the crash.
