KEY POINTS:
A 17 year-old man from Huntly who died after a fatal head-on crash north of Taupiri has been named by police.
Nashun George died in the crash which happened shortly before 8am on Tuesday.
Initial police reports suggested the crash happened after Mr George's car crossed the centre line and collided with a car coming in the opposite direction.
State Highway One near Taupiri was for about four hours following the crash while the Serious Crash Unit investigated.
Police are appealing to the driver of a truck on the highway at the time to come forward.
Sergeant Mark Toomey said the truck was being overtaken by the car which collided with Mr George at the time of the accident.
He said the truck driver might not have seen the accident but police would still like to make contact with the person, who was heading north at the time.
Mr Toomey asked the driver to contact Huntly police on 07 828 7560.
