Police name Canadian crash victim

Police have named the Canadian tourist who was killed in a car crash near Hamilton last week.

He was 19-year-old Cameron Chad Adrian, of Alberta.

Mr Adrian died when his car collided with a flatbed truck on State Highway 1, near Karapiro, 30km southeast of Hamilton, on Friday afternoon.

A 20-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to Waikato Hospital.

Police earlier said it appeared the car driven by Mr Adrian had crossed the centre line in front of the truck.

The incident is still under investigation by Waikato police's serious crash unit.
