The circumstances surrounding the death of a baby girl in Hawera yesterday are still not clear, despite a post-mortem examination taking place today, police say.
Janice Anne Shona Te Aroha Revell was 7-weeks-old when she died at a home in the south Taranaki town yesterday.
Investigations into her death are on going, following the post mortem.
The examination was carried out today at the Palmerston North Hospital, but the results were "inconclusive", Detective Senior Sergeant Brent Matuku, officer in charge of the investigation said.
"This is a very distressing time for Janice's family and we are continuing to speak to them in an effort to piece together the circumstances that led to Janice's tragic death," he said.
