KEY POINTS:
Police have named a 15-year-old boy who died after his car hit a power pole in Te Awamutu early this morning.
They said Nicholas Samuel Thomas Jeffs' Toyota hit the pole before colliding with a fence at about 4.30am. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and died at the scene.
Enquiries are continuing in relation to the cause of the crash.
In south Auckland, one person has died after two cars this morning.
Police Inspector Kerry Watson said the Auckland crash happened at 7am at Porchester Road, in Manurewa East.
One person died at the scene, while another had serious injuries and a third person had moderate injuries, Mr Watson said.
Porchester Road was closed for traffic between Hyperion Drive and Popes Road.
