Three jetski drivers may face charges over the death of Rotorua Boys' High School student Bishop Thompson.
The 17-year-old was killed two weeks ago while jetskiing on Lake Okareka, near Rotorua.
Sergeant Paul Kirkby, of Rotorua police, said the investigation was complete and a decision would be made next week about whether to charge the drivers of the three jetskis on the lake at the time.
All drivers were aged 17, he said.
Thompson's body was found five days after the jetski on which he was a passenger collided with another.
He was hit by a third jetski and disappeared under water. He was not wearing a lifevest.
