Auckland police believe they may have caught a serial rapist.
A 30-year-old Panmure digger driver has been charged with rape, abduction, possession of a knife and theft relating to an attack on a woman in the suburb of Grafton in February last year.
The man was arrested when the Auckland City Adult Sexual Assault Team executed a search warrant this morning as part of on-going investigations into a series of rapes between February last year and July this year.
Detective Sergeant Andy King says the investigation team is going through all its files to determine whether the man might be linked to any unresolved complaints.
The man is likely to face further serious charges.
