Police manhunt after 'shot fired' in Papakura, South Auckland, last night

Police are looking for a man after they were told a shot was fired in South Auckland last night.

No injuries had been reported from the incident in Short St, Papakura, just before 7.30pm, a police spokeswoman said this morning.

Armed police tried to find the man, who is known to them.

"The man was not located after extensive searching, however police have some firm lines of inquiry to follow up and these are ongoing this morning."

Police believe there is no risk to the public, she said.
