Police have made three "peripheral" arrests after an armed offenders' squad callout on Auckland's North Shore, where a man was shot yesterday.
The AOS cordoned off the property on Glenfield Rd in suburban Glenfield after neighbours reported hearing gun shots around 11.15am.
A man in his 20s checked himself into a Waitakere medical centre with a shotgun wound a short time later. He was expected to be discharged from North Shore Hospital today, Detective Shane Page said.
Police arrested three men after finding small quantities of cannabis and methamphetamine in the house and in a car seen leaving the property. The man who was shot was not one of those arrested.
Police were yet to arrest anyone for the shooting and had not found the firearm, Mr Page said.
They had not ruled out the shooting being gang-related, and were not seeking anyone else in connection with it.
"There are people involved in the incident who have gang connections but I can't say that it's a direct result of gang activities. It's not one gang against another gang, let's put it that way. If anything they're all from the same gang," he said.
A man is to appear in the North Shore District Court today on cannabis-related charges and for breaching bail.
The other two will appear this week.
