Police have arrested a 30-year-old Feilding man and charged him with the murder of Manawatu farmer Scott Guy.
He will appear in Palmerston North District Court tomorrow afternoon.
Mr Guy, 31, was shot dead in the driveway of his home on Aorangi Rd, Feilding, in the early hours of July 8 last year.
Earlier today, police arrested the man, whose name has not been released, in Feilding and charged him with murder.
He has also been charged with arson and criminal damage relating to incidents at Mr Guy's property in October 2008 and January 2009.
A second man, aged 21 years, also from Feilding, faces arson and criminal damage charges and appeared in an Otago District Court earlier today.
He has not been charged in connection with the murder.
No-one else was being sought for the murder or related offences at this time, police said.
Mr Guy's family had been advised of the arrests.
In February, police said they were looking into a possible link between Mr Guy's death, and graffiti on a house being built by him.
Just over 18 months before his murder - on the night of January 30, 2009 - a home being built by him and wife Kylee Guy was vandalised, causing extensive damage estimated to be worth around $13,800.
Graffiti with the phrase "Fuken Bitch Slappr" was painted in large letters on an outside wall and another phrase on a different wall.
Police wanted to know why the property was targeted and whether the vandalism was linked to Mr Guy's murder, Detective Inspector Sue Schwalger said at the time.
"Extensive enquiries have been made and we have found nothing in the lives of Scott, Kylee or any previous occupants to indicate the words were aimed at them," Ms Schwalger said.
In December, Mr Guy's widow released a heartfelt plea for information on her husband's death as the family faced their first Christmas without him.
Kylee Guy is now the single mother of two-year-old Hunter and three-month-old Drover - who was born after his father was killed.
Knowing Mr Guy would not be there to watch Hunter open presents and share the joy on his face was the most heartbreaking thing of all, Mrs Guy said.
Mrs Guy said it was beyond belief that someone had committed such a foul and cowardly act and begged the killer to come forward.
"In living this nightmare, we are taking each day as it comes. The hole without Scotty is deep and dark - emotionally, physically and financially. I know he would be so upset to see the boys and myself having to deal with this.
"I've lost my best friend, husband and the father of our two little boys. Scotty would just want to be here to make us happy and to make everything OK," she said.
Police and the Guy family declined to comment further.
