Police in Dunedin made 22 arrests on Saturday night at the annual Hyde St student party, but rated the crowd better natured than in previous years.
Senior Sergeant Dave Scott said levels of intoxication at the party were concerning and the arrests were for general disorderly behaviour.
Mr Scott said the number of arrests was up on last year but attributed that to a larger police presence.
As with previous years, a sofa was set on fire in the street at the end of the night.
