Police are mystified no witnesses have come forward after a hit and run incident in which a 40-year-old cyclist suffered multiple injuries on Auckland's North Shore.
The incident happened about 5.30am on June 23, at the intersection of Porana and Wairau Roads in Wairau Valley.
Police said the cyclist told them he was travelling north on Wairau Road and was approaching the intersection of Porana Road when he became aware a vehicle was approaching from his left.
The vehicle turned left into Wairau Road and collided with the cyclist, throwing him from his bike.
The vehicle did not stop and continued along Wairau Road. The right hand side of the vehicle was damaged and the force of the impact broke the window on the driver's side.
The male victim suffered multiple lacerations in the crash and he is still receiving treatment for his injuries. Police want the driver of the vehicle involved to come forward so they can work out the full circumstances of the incident.
The make, colour, number and model of the vehicle is unknown.
Police have been seeking witnesses to this incident over the past two weeks but so far without success.
They are puzzled no one has come forward with information.
Police want anyone who regularly travels in the Wairau Road area about 5.30am each day to recall whether they saw any suspicious or damaged vehicles in that area on June 23.
