A knife, cellphone and shoes are being hunted as important evidence in the death of 19-year-old Chinese student Jiayi Li.
Police believe the items were thrown from Miss Li's car somewhere in West Auckland by her suspected killers in the early hours of May 19.
The knife police are looking for is a Wiltshire brand parer with a triple rivet black handle, and the cellphone is described as a green/blue LG brand KF350 flip top.
The shoes were flat white or silver pumps.
Police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said the items were needed by the homicide team.
Lynfield College student Li Yong Xin, 18, and family friend Evan Yu Hong Lin, 20, have been charged with murder and aggravated robbery.
The two men are accused of using a knife to rob Miss Li of her cash card and car, and it is alleged that they tried to use her card at Mt Albert and Tamaki Drive.
A third man, with name suppression, has been charged with tampering with evidence.
The body of Miss Li, also known as Kiko, was found in the boot of her car on a Hamilton street, 125km from where she was last seen in Kingsland.
