A gang member wanted over a kidnapping in which he allegedly held a knife to a man's throat has been on the run for a year and police believe he is hiding somewhere in Hawkes Bay.
Constable Mark Champion of the Wairoa police said there are two warrants for Anzac Gemmell's arrest, one in relation to the kidnapping, the other for a breach of community work.
Mr Champion said Gemmell was a Mongrel Mob member and should not to be approached. He would have access to weapons and was considered dangerous.
Mr Champion said Gemmell would likely face charges of kidnapping, threatening to do grievous bodily harm and unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle.
Gemmell appeared on an episode of Police Ten-7 on March 21 over the kidnapping incident in Wairoa last year.
