Police are on the trail of a septic waste truck reported stolen in Dunedin overnight.
The blue and yellow 1986 Nissan Atlas, with 'Barry Dell Plumbing' emblazoned on its side, was stolen from The Glen suburb of Dunedin at 4.30am today, police say.
"The truck has been seen trying to purchase gas around the Dunedin area before potentially heading north," a police statement said.
An unconfirmed sighting of the truck was reported from Oamaru at 11.45am.
"Police are not sure where the truck is heading, but it could potentially be anywhere in the South Island," the statement added.
