Police are trying to find the owner of a car found crashed on to rocks along Wellington's coast.
A picture of the vehicle perched on the rocky shore just off Massey Rd in Kau Bay has been circulating on social media.
A police spokeswoman said the car was empty when it was found this morning.
"It appears it may have happened some time during the night. The vehicle is empty and there's nothing else notably suspicious at this stage, it appears it's just gone off the edge."
Police are trying to get in touch with the registered owner of the car, which is expected to be towed in the next couple of hours.
