KEY POINTS:
An elderly motorist who had not been seen since leaving his Lower Hutt home on Saturday morning to drive to a family gathering in Waitara has been found safe and well.
Family had raised the alarm when 82-year-old Kelvyn Herbert did not arrive in Waitara on Saturday evening.
Inspector Michael Coleman of the police central communications said Mr Herbert was located today driving in Waitara and has been returned to his family.
