Police launch homicide inquiry in Upper Hutt

A homicide investigation was launched in Upper Hutt on Saturday night after a man was found dead at a Merton St house.

Police were interviewing a 39-year-old woman in connection with the death.

Detective Senior Sergeant Soni Malaulau said police and ambulance officers discovered the man after being called to the house soon before 8pm.

A section of the street was cordoned off as ESR scientists examined the scene.

Mr Malaulau said police were yet to confirm the identity of the deceased, or advise next of kin.

No further details were immediately available.
