Police investigating the aggravated robbery of the TAB at Westgate, Auckland, are asking for the public's help to identify a man shown in security footage.
Police believe the offender hid in the ceiling before closing time on Saturday April 30. When a staff member was cashing up the man then entered the office from the ceiling.
He was carrying a samurai sword with him and threatened the staff member before tying him up and taking bundles of notes
Detective Maggie Dodd said: "The offender left using the front door with an umbrella to disguise his face but police believe the security footage may help identify who he is."
Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the TAB between 6pm and 7.30pm. It is possible the offender may have been in the TAB on previous occasions.
Members of the public can phone Ms Dodd on 09 488 6249.
