KEY POINTS:
Police have released the image of a man they are seeking in relation to a bank robbery.
The National Bank on the corner of Vulcan Lane and Queen Street was robbed yesterday morning.
Detective Robin Parker said the man threatened a female bank teller but police were not saying whether or not a weapon was used.
He said the man police are looking for is a light skinned Polynesian or Maori, aged in his 20s, of medium height and build with a goatee beard.
He was wearing a black baseball cap, black hooded sweatshirt, with cargo pants and white shoes. He was carrying a cream and black coloured bag.
National Bank spokeswoman Virginia Stracey-Clitherow said no staff or customers were injured.
"It's in the hands of the police," she said.
Ms Stracey-Clitherow would not comment further.
