Police investigation into Flaxmere death continues

Police are awaiting the results of a post mortem examination as their investigation continues into the death of a Hastings man following a violent clash.

Ephrame Ronald Waihape, 40, was found unconscious on the driveway of a house on Whitby Cres in Flaxmere on Saturday and could not be revived.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave de Lange said there had been two other people at the house at the time of the man's death.

Police were not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.

Mr de Lange said an arrest had not yet been made and the investigation was continuing.

The incident is understood to have been a domestic dispute.

Officers who attended a incident on the street at 4.57pm called for paramedics soon after arriving.

Ambulance officers worked on the patient for more than half an hour, one eye witness said.
