Auckland homicide: Man charged with murder after woman’s body found in Avondale home

Police have charged a man with murder after the discovery of a woman’s body in a home in the Auckland suburb of Avondale early this morning.

Officers were called to a Holly St property just after 1.30am and found a dead woman inside, Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong said.

Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong said a 35-year-old man charged with murder has been remanded in custody to appear in Auckland District Court on Monday.

“Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the death, and locals can expect a Police presence in the area over the next couple of days.”

Earlier in the morning, Armstrong had said a man at the address was helping police with their inquiries.

A scene examination is ongoing and will extend into tomorrow.

“At this time there is not thought to be any risk to the public. More information will be released when we are in a position to do so.”
