Police are investigating whether two burglaries in suburbs south of Auckland early this morning were linked.
Around 4:20am The Rusty Dog camping and outdoors shop on Manukau Rd, Pukekohe was ram-raided by offenders in a car, Inspector Barry Smalley said.
"The offenders didn't gain access, so security or something has prevented them from getting in."
Nothing was taken in the burglary, he said.
Around half-an-hour later a clothing store in Queen Street, Waiuku was burgled.
A large amount of clothing was taken in the burglary just before 5am, Mr Smalley said.
He said while different cars were used in the two burglaries he wasn't ruling out that they were carried out by the same offenders.
"We don't know whether the offenders were the same."
Legislation banning the display of patches in public came into effect last week.
