Police are investigating a possible link between two recent fires on the Karikari Peninsula and a man seen riding a quadbike in the area.
The man was seen on a red quadbike riding away from one fire on November 15.
Police said they had made good progress in the investigation but had not yet identified or spoken to the man seen on the bike.
"Many other locals have accounted for their movements that day, however the quad rider has not made himself known to police," Detective Inspector Karyn Malthus said.
Police also wanted to speak to all people on the peninsula during a second fire on November 30.
