KEY POINTS:
Police in Hamilton are investigating a hit-and-run incident which left a pedestrian seriously injured last night.
Senior Sergeant Pete van de Wetering said a 59-year-old man was struck by a vehicle as he crossed Victoria St at about 8pm.
He was taken to hospital with compound fractures to his leg, a fractured skull and lacerations.
Mr van de Wetering said the man was found lying on the road by a witness who heard the impact of the collision.
He said police were looking for a light coloured car and a motorcycle that were seen travelling down Victoria St at the time of the impact.
Anyone with knowledge of the incident was urged to contact police.
