KEY POINTS:
Police are investigating the death of 7-year-old Joshua Cocklin who was killed after a 4WD rolled on him at a Whangaruru, Northland, farm.
Joshua was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown out of the vehicle just before New Year's Eve.
The death is not counted in the official road toll as it did not happen on a public road.
Tragically, Joshua's older brother Daniel, 2, died in 1997 after he was run over by a truck on a family farm in Ngunguru, 22km north of Whangerei.
The boys' father, Paul Cocklin, said it was "tough" losing two children in similar accidents.
