Police investigating Clarks Beach home invasion

Police are investigating a reported home invasion last night at a house in Clarks Beach, south-west of Auckland.

Inspector Scott Webb of the police northern communications centre said a man was in custody after presenting a weapon at the occupants of the home.

"Fortunately, an occupant from the address, with the assistance of a neighbour were able to wrestle the intruder to the ground, holding him until police arrived," Mr Webb said.

Nobody was injured and the weapon was secured.

Police are investigating and no further details are immediately available.
