Police investigating attempted kidnapping in Northland

A person has reported an attempted abduction in Northland this afternoon.

Police are investigating after the person said they had been forced into a vehicle by a group of unknown people at Ohaeawai at about 3.25pm.

A police spokesperson said the person was assaulted.

They said a personal item was stolen from the alleged victim before they were let out of the vehicle.

“Thankfully, they were not injured,” they said.

“Police are working to locate the vehicle and people believed responsible.”
