A 15-year-old girl was stabbed in the leg outside the Nelson Speedway tonight.
Southern Ambulance Communications' shift leader Andy Gray said the girl suffered moderate injuries in the 9pm attack.
She was taken by ambulance to Nelson Hospital.
A police spokeswoman said a person ran from the scene after the stabbing. She did not know any other details of the person, but police are making inquiries.
She also did not have details on what type of weapon was alleged to have been used.
