Police are investigating after a man turned up at New Plymouth hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.
A Taranaki District Health Board spokeswoman said the patient had been discharged today, but couldn't provide any further details.
Detective Sergeant Debbie Gower confirmed to Fairfax the victim had been spoken to by police and no arrests had been made thus far.
"Inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances around how he was injured," she said.
There was no concerns for the safety of the wider public in the wake of the shooting, a police communications spokeswoman told Fairfax.
