Police investigating after 44-year-old man found dead at Waimate address

Police are investigating after a man was found dead at a property on Belt St in Waimate, on the east coast of the South Island.

Police are investigating after a 44-year-old man was found dead at a property in a small South Island town.

Emergency services were called to an address on Belt St, Waimate, at 7.30pm, where the man was found dead, police said.

Police were conducting a scene examination and a post mortem examination would take place today or tomorrow.
