Hutt Valley Police are investigating the death of a man found underneath the Totara Park Bridge in Upper Hutt this afternoon.
A member of the public notified police of the body just after 1pm today.
"We have identified the body of the deceased as that of a 47-year old-man and are in the process of informing his next of kin," said Detective Sergeant Christiaan Barnard of the Hutt Valley CIB.
The cause of the man's death has not been determined. A post-mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow morning.
Police said they would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the Totara Park Bridge area today.
