Wellington police are investigating the death of a 40-year-old man in a central suburb today.
The body was discovered by a local resident in the carpark of Arlington Apartments on a Hopper Street in the suburb of Mt Cook about 1.20pm, police said.
Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard of the Wellington CIB said the death remained unexplained at this stage.
"A post-mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow. A scene examination and an area canvas is under way this afternoon."
Anyone in the area of the Arlington Apartments at 1.20pm and who had not already spoken to by police was asked to contact Wellington CIB, Ms Howard said.
Police would not be releasing the man's name until all next of kin have been advised.
