Police are investigating the unexplained death of a woman in Dannevirke.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Harrison says police were called to an Empire Street property around 7am yesterday, and found the body of a woman aged in her late forties.
A post-mortem examination was carried out in Wellington today, and the death is being treated as unexplained until further autopsy results are available.
Police say there is so far no evidence to suggest the woman's death is suspicious, but rather 'unexplained'.
They are continuing to make enquiries on behalf of the Coroner.
