Police investigate truckie bashed on m'way

Police are investigating the assault of a truck driver on Auckland's Southern Motorway near East Tamaki this afternoon.

A witness saw two men stop in the middle of the lane, in front of the truck, jump out and start beating the driver up, before getting back into their cars and driving off.

Police say they are investigating the assault but have not been able to locate the truck driver or the men involved.

It is understood the truck driver was not badly hurt in the attack.
