Police are investigating why a two-year-old girl was in a critical condition when she was rushed to hospital, last night.
Police spokesman Kevin Loughlin said the girl was taken to Starship Hospital at 8.20pm and has since undergone surgery.
He said police have cordoned off a home in Ranch Ave, Beach Haven.
Mr Loughlin said it is early on in the investigation and police would not be commenting further.
A spokeswoman for the Auckland District Health Board said the girl was in a critical condition today.
