KEY POINTS:
Rotorua police are investigating a suspicious fire at a primary school.
Detective Richard Lang said a fire was set next to the wooden structure of a classroom block at Glenholme Primary School last night.
It was discovered at 11pm by a local resident, who put it out.
Had it not been found the damage could have been substantial, Mr Lang said.
The fire service found it had been deliberately lit.
Four youths, about 17 years-old, wearing dark clothing were seen leaving the area shortly before the fire was found, he said.
Police wanted to speak to the youths and anyone else who was in the area around the time.
