Police and fire safety officers are investigating a third suspicious fire in the Manawatu town of Feilding this year after a blaze at a hair salon overnight.
Four fire appliances were called to the blaze at Rome Hairdressers in Manchester Square, Feilding, 20km north-west of Palmerston North, shortly before midnight, central fire communications shift manager Mike Wanoa said.
The fire took about two hours to put out, he said.
It was the third significant suspicious fire in Feilding this year and police were investigating the possibility they could be linked.
Police have appealed for information and asked people to be on the look out for suspicious behaviour during the period from late evening to early morning, when all three fires occurred.
